Website support for Chapter 6: Preparing Parents and Practices for Early Detection
Chapter 6 describes how providers can help parents understand:
1. The value of developmental-behavioral surveillance and screening
2. How surveillance/screening lead to focused developmental-behavioral promotion
3. That costs may be associated
4. How practices will help families deal with any denied claims
One of the best ways to help families is to issue periodically a cover letter explaining the above. We include such a letter (downloadable in Word) so that you can modify it as needed. Modifications might include links to parenting information, to your practice website, to the parent-portals for any online screening services you use (along with usernames and passwords), your clinic letterhead and provider name(s).
